Global chip sales fell more than 20% in April, according to MarketWatch, a financial website owned by Dow Jones & Co.
Sales fell 21.6 percent to $40 billion in April from $50.9 billion in April 2022, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association. The industry group now expects the market to decline 10.3% in 2023 and rebound 11.9% in 2024, according to forecast data from the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics Association.

SIA CEO John Neuffer said in a statement that the global semiconductor market remains in a cyclical downturn and is worsening due to macroeconomic weakness, but sales rose for the second consecutive month in April from a year earlier, perhaps signaling a continued rebound in the coming months.
Compared with the same period last year, sales fell 21.3 percent in March, 20.7 percent in February and 18.5 percent in January, while sales in 2022 reached a record $573.5 billion, the report noted.
